Routine & Predictability
Kids of all ages benefit from having routines and predictability woven throughout their days. Knowing what to expect from one moment to the next helps kids to feel safe and secure, providing reassurance that their needs will be taken care of. Being able to anticipate and ready themselves for the structure of their day, children provided with consistent routines are able to experience more independence and success which leads to increased self-confidence and self-control.
Without a sense of predictability, children may feel “out of control” and will often find their own ways to assert control over their environments. This naturally leads to power struggles and other behavioral difficulties.
