Special Note to Schools
This Students FIRST website was developed with Chittenden County schools in mind to increase your access to practical mental health information, tools, and resources.
Social, emotional, behavioral and mental health issues may impact learning in profound ways and must be addressed for our students to be successful. No one knows this better than you - our school professionals — who are committed to teaching all of our community’s children and youth, despite the complex array of barriers that interfere with the availability of many of our students for learning.
There are so many ways that you work every day to support and promote healthy social, emotional, and behavioral development of the children and adolescents in your care. A small sampling of these include efforts toward creating safe and supportive school and classroom environments, implementing system wide positive behavioral supports, teaching social and emotional skills, providing resilience building opportunities, and collaborating with community based mental health care professionals to provide needed supports and services to children and their families right in your school.
This website was developed to enhance these efforts and to support you in your work with students and their families. Explore its pages and bookmark it for future use. If there is specific information you would like to see incorporated here, please contact us and let us know.
